A brand new and quite massive report has appeared online concerning the future of Konami, the publisher behind huge franchises like Metal Gear Solid. Apparently, the Japanese company no longer wants to make triple-A console games, with the only exception being its yearly Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) series.

Konami hasn't been going through the best of periods this year, as rumors of internal turmoil as well as shady practice in regards to the launch of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain have made a dent in the company's popularity.

Now, after releasing the Phantom Pain at the beginning of the month and PES 2016 earlier this week, Konami is apparently giving up on making any other major games for consoles and PC.

More specifically, according to Gameblog, the Japanese company no longer wants to invest in triple-A titles, instead opting to focus on mobile games and other such projects. This has already led to the rumored departure of Fox Engine mastermind Julien Merceron, and now it seems that the technology will only be used in making new PES titles in the future.

As of yet, Konami hasn't commented on the report, but given its reluctance to share anything about other major projects, it's quite likely that sagas like Metal Gear Solid are coming to an abrupt end. Expect to hear more in the following days or weeks.
