The Wii U might not be the success that Nintendo expected it to be but the home consoles has had a good week on the Japanese market, where the launch of the solid Super Mario Maker has managed to take it to second place in the hardware chart.

Media Create figures quoted by NeoGAF show that the number one position once again belongs to the 3DS handheld, which has managed to deliver 27,829 units to its own fans, a decrease when compared to the previously tracked period.

The Wii U sold 20,891 devices for the week that ended on September 13, basically doubling its own overall figures, and third place in the hardware chart once again belongs to the PlayStation 4 from Sony, which saw its own numbers drop from over 54,000 to a more normal 18,555.

The Vita is seeing a decline of its own and now stands at 9,480, ahead of the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox One, which delivered 207 units to the customer base for the week.

Super Mario Maker is the leader of the software chart and delivered 138,242 copies to gamers, a solid but not great figure for a first week.

The rest of the video game top ten includes: Monster Hunter Diary: Poka Poka Airu Village DX, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, Yo-Kai Watch Busters: Red Cat Team / White Dog Squad, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain for the PS3, Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, Splatoon, Minecraft: PlayStation Vita Edition and Rhythm Heaven: The Best+.
