The 3DS has seen a big increase in its sales on the Japanese market and the handheld is again at the top of the hardware chart, managing to deliver 55,124 units to gamers during a week, which is almost double the 28,874 it managed during the previously tracked period.

The PlayStation 4 is in second place, posting a more modest increase in its own sales from 17,656 to 18,740, according to Media Create data quoted by NeoGAF.

The last position on the podium is occupied by the Vita, which has posted a decline and might actually lose its place soon to the Wii U home console from Nintendo, which is close to the 12,000 units sold milestone.

The PlayStation 3 has sold 2,540 devices, while the Xbox One has managed to deliver only 186 to fans.

Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer from Nintendo is the best-selling title of the week and has generated 522,556 in sales during its launch week.

Second place is occupied by Yo-Kai Watch Busters: Red Cat Team / White Dog Squad, another 3DS title from Level 5.

The rest of the top ten includes: IA/VT: Colorful, Splatoon, Rhythm Heaven: The Best+, Date-A-Live Twin Edition: Rio Reincarnation, Sengoku Basara 4: Sumeragi, Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright / Conquest, Ray Gigant, and Minecraft: PlayStation Vita Edition.
