The Japanese hardware sales chart is once again dominated by the 3DS handheld, which has managed to post a solid increase when it comes to the number of units delivered to its fans, reaching 42,248 for the week that ended on August 16.

According to Media Create data from NeoGAF, the PlayStation 4 is in second place, increasing its own sales from 14,619 to 18,503, while the PlayStation Vita is very close behind and managed to sell no less than 18,072 devices.

The Wii U might be a long-term disappointment, but it is doing relatively well in Japan, with 16,567 units offered to gamers in one week, followed by the PS3 at 3,448.

In a week when all gaming hardware posted increases, the Xbox One has seen a decline from 200 to 195.

It will be interesting to see whether there's any point when the PlayStation 4 manages to make a big push to take number one and keep that position for a longer period.

Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer from Nintendo for the 3DS has managed to deliver 140,235 copies to gamers during the week to sit in first place.

The rest of the top ten includes: Yo-Kai Watch Busters: Red Cat Team / White Dog Squad, Splatoon, Rhythm Heaven: The Best+, Minecraft: PlayStation Vita Edition, Mario Kart 8, Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright / Conquest, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Luminous Arc: Infinity, and Yoshi's Woolly World.
