Gamers will be unable to access it for two hours

The development team at EA Sports is announcing that it plans to bring the Ultimate Team mode for FIFA 16 down for maintenance starting 4 AM Greenwich Mean Time on October 6, which is the equivalent of 8 PM Pacific Time.

The official Twitter message about the downtime explains that the mode should be unavailable for about 2 hours.

EA Sports is not offering any details about the changes that it might make to the Ultimate team experience and whether there are plans to deliver the new title update for the football sim on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 at the same time.

The official announcement adds, "To limit the amount of players that are in the middle of a FUT match when maintenance starts, we will prevent new FUT matches from starting on the appropriate platforms approximately 30 minutes before the maintenance begins. We are doing this to prevent players from starting matches that would not have a chance to finish before the maintenance starts."

Gamers who are actually playing FIFA 16 at that time will be able to complete their matches without any issues, which is important especially if they are involved in a Draft tournament.

This is the first time that this procedure is used for Ultimate Team maintenance periods, which means that it might not work as advertised for all involved players.

UPDATE: Although no official announcement was made by EA Sports, it seems that the maintenance is taking longer than initially expected.
