Playing PCM 2015, Dawn of War II, EU IV and Game of Thrones

I've had a week off and that means I had plenty of free time, which I planned to dedicate to my ever growing backlog of video games, but I ended up doing something that I both love and dread at the same time: I went on a nostalgia trip and re-played some old favorites.

It all started with the trading cards that have been added to the first and second Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, which led me to reinstall the titles and play through some of the campaign yet again.

The core mechanics of the first title are a little dated, but the core Space Marine campaign of Dawn of War 2 is still incredibly engaging and varied, especially when played on the higher difficulty setting.

I also played a lot of the original Rome: Total War, using the Europa Barbarorum mod, which is a marvel considering that it was created by fans over a lot of years.

But most of my holiday involved Europa Universalis IV with the most recent Common Sense expansion, trying to find ways for my little Bohemian nation to grow into one of the leading powers of Europe and maybe the whole world.

As for the rest of my weekend, I plan to spend it with another Paradox title, Crusader Kings II, and with Game of Thrones: Ascent.
