Bungie has begun to issue bans for unfair behavior

Bungie has finally started taking a hard stance on Destiny players who resort to network manipulation and lag switching in order to gain advantages in the Crucible multiplayer mode, as bans are being handed out as we speak in the online title.

Destiny offers not just an expansive story-based experience that's set in a multiplayer world but also some intense competitive experiences in the special Crucible section.

As you can imagine, some users don't like to play fair and have resorted to manipulating their network conditions through the so-called lag switch maneuver. This mechanic freezes their character to the outside world, but actually, they can continue to kill others and rack up points.

After a lengthy period of silence about this issue, Destiny developer Bungie confirms on its Twitter that it's started handing out bans to users who are manipulating their network conditions in the Crucible.

More information will be shared later today during the regular weekly blog post on the official website, but until then, bans are already popping up for those who resorted to shady maneuvers in order to defeat their enemies in the Crucible.

It's unclear what the studio will do in case of false positives, but you can expect to hear more soon enough.
