ARK: Survival Evolved, the popular dinosaur survival game, is set to receive a brand new patch tomorrow, August 28, which brings support for the DirectX 12 technology in the Windows 10 operating system. According to developer Studio Wildcard, those who use the OS should notice a pretty big performance increase of around 20%.

ARK: Survival Evolved impressed quite a lot of people when it launched as an Early Access title on the Steam platform at the beginning of summer.

Since then, the team behind it has added plenty of fresh content, while adapting the survival experience to feedback from users and fans.

The latest patch is scheduled to debut tomorrow, August 28, according to the announcement on the Steam forums, and brings quite a few interesting things to the survival experience.

Besides adding yet another new dinosaur, in the form of Mesopithecus, as well as smoke grenades, the major update allows PC users with Windows 10 operating systems to use the new DirectX 12 API in the game.

As opposed to DirectX 11, the developer notes that the DirectX 12 version of ARK should bring a performance increase of about 20%.

No other technical details have been revealed, so it's unclear if this enhancement will be noticeable on all PC configurations.

Expect to see the new update debut tomorrow, August 28, worldwide through the Steam service.
