The development team working on the upcoming Zelda title Hyrule Warriors is delivering the first character-focused trailer for the upcoming hack and slash game, which is focused on main character Link and on the powers that he will be able to use on the battlefield.

The studio is showing off the design of the protagonist, who is set to be at the same time familiar to long-term fans of The Legend of Zelda series and to include some innovative elements.

Hyrule Warriors will take the Zelda world and will mix it with the core gameplay mechanics of Dynasty Warriors, which means that gamers will have to use the weapons and the unique powers of their characters in order to battle whole armies of enemies.

Link might be the best known character that gamers can control, but they will also be able to enjoy combat as Impa, Midna and Princess Zelda herself.

The story told in Hyrule Warriors is not cannon for the series and will introduce a new villain, a powerful wizard named Cia who is corrupted by evil after protecting the Triforce for centuries.

Hyrule Warriors will be offered exclusively on the Wii U home console from Nintendo on August 14 in Japan, on September 19 in Europe and seven days later in the United States.
