The upcoming Wii U Japanese role-playing game Xenoblade Chronicles X has just gotten a ton of fresh new concept art pieces.

The images were uploaded to the official Xenoblade Chronicles website, showing some new environments, a few monsters and ship designs, as well as a couple of the characters that players will be encountering in the upcoming game.

The game has a distinct focus on exploration, just like the original title, offering players a vast open world to navigate.

Developer Monolith Soft has revealed that Xenoblade Chronicles X will accurately track the gamers' play time, as opposed to Xenoblade Chronicles, where the timer stopped at 99 hours and 59 minutes for everybody, no matter how long you played.

Furthermore, the game's battle system will be very similar to the one found in the original, and the Wii U GamePad controller will be used as a sort of information terminal, where players will be able to chart their progress and record data about the various organisms encountered.

In case you want to see how the game is shaping up so far, you can watch the video below, recorded during a Nintendo Direct show and published by the company to showcase the variety of environments you will be adventuring through.

Xenoblade Chronicles X is scheduled to come out on April 29 in Japan, and sometime later this year in western markets, exclusively for the Wii U home console from Nintendo.
