HB Studios has just launched its golf simulation video game, titled The Golf Club, on the Xbox One and PC platforms today, with the PlayStation version scheduled to come out before the end of the month.

The video game has been revealed to be running in full HD (1080p) on the PlayStation 4, but at only 720p resolution on the Xbox One computer entertainment system from Microsoft. The disparity in resolution between the two platforms has sparked some debate, and the developers have revealed that they are confident that the Xbox One resolution will improve over time.

"If you look back at all console life cycles visuals always improve over time. As us developers get used to the libraries and hardware and work out new techniques we can use to squeeze every ounce of power out of the machine the graphics will improve, frame rates will improve and the experience as a whole improve," HB Studios tells GamingBolt.

The Xbox One's resolution issues have caused much heated arguments in the gaming community, with developers and users alike sharing their opinions on the matter. The discussion is mainly whether the limitation stems from the hardware, and whether the software development kit updates and internal code optimizations will help the system achieve 1080p in the long run.

There are many users on both sides, with some hailing DirectX 12 as the boost that the Xbox One needs to catch up to Sony's PlayStation 4 in terms of raw performance, while others pointing to the machine's slightly inferior specs and tricky ESRAM as big hurdles that developers might not overcome too easily.
