Shinji Mikami, the developer currently working on The Evil Within, believes that the new options included in the controllers of the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One will allow his team to create an enhanced survival horror experience.

He tells The Official Xbox Magazine that Kinect can also help, adding, “If the new sensor is accurate enough to capture people’s facial expressions, then we could be able to utilize it. That’s something I’d maybe like to use at some point.”

Because fingers are a sensitive area of the human body the developer is also evaluating rumble as a potential way to increase tension in The Evil Within.

The new game is set to bring the survival horror genre back to its roots and will be launched in 2014 on both next gen and current gen consoles.
