The elimination of used games DRM has evened out the playing field to some degree

The Xbox One's 499 USD/EUR price might be reduced by Microsoft in its first year if the next-gen console is losing badly in terms of sales to the PlayStation 4, according to analyst Michael Pachter.

The Xbox One saw a major shift in terms of used games DRM policy and online requirements yesterday, with Microsoft scrapping its old limitations.

Games industry analyst Michael Pachter, via Videogamer, believes this is a good thing, as the only difference between the Xbox One and PS4 is the price, which is in favor of Sony's console.

Even so, Pachter believes that, with aggressive marketing, the Xbox One can even out the field with the PS4.

What's more, if this doesn't work and the PS4 is beating the Xbox One, Pachter predicts a price cut for Microsoft's console within the first 12 months since it goes on sale.

What do you think? Should Microsoft reduce the price for the Xbox One in order to stand on truly equal ground with Sony's PlayStation 4?
