Users can use kudos to show their approval

The team that created the very successful Spotify music service, which allows users to stream a range of popular tracks from the biggest record labels, is suggesting that it might be interested in creating an app for the Xbox One home console as long as there is enough interest coming from the user community.

Posting on an idea thread created by a user, the company explains that “We're excited to see so many folks excited about this idea. We don't comment on any potential partnerships until they happen. Unlike other ideas, we can't promise kudos will lead to an implemented idea but please feel free to add your comments.”

It sounds like Spotify is basically aiming to see what proportion of its user base is interested in getting a solution that works on the Xbox One before it opens up official talks with Microsoft to make it a reality.

The company has long maintained that it wants its current-gen console to be an entertainment hub, so a solid music streaming app should be right up its alley.

At the moment, more than 60 million people are using the Spotify app to listen to music, and data about the Xbox One shows that more than 12 million gamers worldwide have bought it since it was introduced in November 2013.
