Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox One controller was subjected to a variety of tests and that it can be used for around 10 years, which is the intended life cycle of the new console.

The Xbox One was revealed to the world last week and, besides showing off the console, Microsoft also demonstrated the device's special controller.

The new and improved peripheral has been subjected to many different tests, according to Microsoft's Bob Brown, who told Pocket Lint that the goal was to make a controller that can last 10 years, the life cycle of the Xbox One.

The new device can handle around 3 million button presses and its tests included repeated drops from different heights onto various surfaces, but also intense button mashing.

As a result, Microsoft is quite confident that the Xbox One controller will be able to handle the challenges of regular gaming.
