Some barriers might still be required to identify true creators

Markus Persson, aka Notch, believes that the decision to make every Xbox One home console a development kit is a wonderful one because it lowers the barriers of entry for many indie creators.

The developer tells Edge Online that, "This makes it easier for both the developer and for Microsoft, and presumably they could make it a lot cheaper since they’d only sell unlock codes."

At the same time, Notch believes that Microsoft might still place some limitations, probably linked to a fee, in order to make sure that only legitimate developers can work on the Xbox One.

Microsoft has recently announced that all Xbox One consoles can be used to create games, with more details on the feature set to be offered during Gamescom later in August.

The next-gen console will be out in November.
