Marc Whitten, the leading platform architect for the Xbox One, says that the team has completely redesigned the Avatars for the next-generation device in order to give players more options linked to the image they project to the community.

Full-body high-definition gamer pictures are supported at launch, via the new Kinect implementation.

The developer tells IGN that “We’ve moved from the 64x64 gamerpics on Xbox 360 to a full 1080p. They are beautiful, and you are going to see some really cool hero moments, like when you login to see personalized views of your games and other content.”

The Xbox One will also use the new reputation and community policing program in order to make sure that all images that gamers use are non-offensive.

The new Microsoft device is expected to launch at some point in November.
