In case anyone was wondering, Microsoft confirms that it's not going to charge for an Xbox Live Gold subscription on Windows 10-powered PCs in order to access the various Xbox Live multiplayer features that are included in the operating system.

The Xbox Live online service has catered to Xbox console users ever since the original Xbox device and has become a staple for the Xbox 360 or Xbox One platforms. Unfortunately, while the service is quite good, if console owners wanted to enjoy the multiplayer modes in their games, they had to buy a premium Xbox Live Gold subscription.

Now that Xbox Live's various multiplayer services are coming to the PC through the upcoming Windows 10 operating system, some PC users feared that they had to get a Gold subscription in order to enjoy them.

They don't have anything to fear, however, as Microsoft's Xbox Community Manager Larry Hryb confirms that Xbox Live Gold isn't required on the PC or on phones once Windows 10 comes around.

"Xbox Live Gold will not be required for online multiplayer gaming using our service on Windows 10 PCs and Phones," he confirms on Twitter.

As such, if you install Windows 10 on your PC, you'll still have access to multiplayer modes and other such things in the games you buy from the universal store.
