The Xbox 360 will be re-released this year in the form of a much cheaper edition that should cost just $99 (around €76) and will accompany the oft-rumored Xbox 720.

Earlier today a brand new report appeared saying that the next-generation Xbox console, codenamed Durango, will be released in November for around 500 USD (385 EUR).

Now, tech blogger Paul Thurrott has also confirmed on the What The Tech podcast that the next-gen console will be accompanied by a redesign of the current Xbox 360, which should cost just 99 USD (75 EUR).

Apparently, Microsoft did work on a non-gaming version of the Xbox 720 but decided to abandon the project and just redesign the Xbox 360 to work as a pure entertainment device.

As of yet, however, Microsoft isn't commenting on its future plans, although it did apologize for the statements one of its employees made in concerning to a Xbox 720 permanent internet connection rumor.
