Microsoft has confirmed that its Games with Gold initiative, which sees Xbox Live Gold members receive free copies of Xbox 360 games, is now a permanent benefit, meaning it will continue after its December 2013 end date.

In an effort to counter Sony's PlayStation Plus, Microsoft said back at E3 2013 that it was going to start a special Games with Gold program that saw Xbox Live Gold users get two free games each month for the Xbox 360, which they could keep even if their Gold membership expired.

Now, the company has confirmed on the Xbox Wire that the Games with Gold program will continue after its December 2013 end date.

According to Microsoft, the positive reception, coupled with the success among Gold users, has prompted it to make Games with Gold a key benefit for its loyal members.
