Video game publisher Activison and developer Blizzard announce that for the first quarter of 2013, their MMO World of Warcraft has a subscriber base of 8.3 million players, a decrease of about 1.3 million over the previously reported figures.

Bobby Kotick is quoted by VG247 as saying that, "Blizzard’s World of Warcraft remained the number one subscription based MMORPG in the world with more than eight million subscribers."

The executive says that most subscribers who abandoned World of Warcraft were from Asia.

Blizzard has previously announced that it plans to deliver new content for its flagship MMO on a more constant basis in order to keep veterans interested.

The company is also rumored to be working on a new project called Titan, which might be revealed as soon as E3 2013.
