Anton Sitnikov, a producer working at Wargaming, says that World of Tanks has become a worldwide phenomenon because the development team has managed to mix a number of elements into a coherent experience that’s accessible to all players.

He tells VG247 that, “great original idea, high quality programming, an exciting and unique setting and an efficient free-to-play business model” were the core values for World Of Tanks.

The game is entirely free-to-play, but players can spend both in-game currency and real money in order to upgrade their fighting machines and the crews that drive them on the battlefield.

World of Tanks is also constantly receiving more content, both vehicles for the various factions and upgrades for the map and the mechanics.

Wargaming is currently working on World of Warplanes and also plans a ship-based MMO.
