The development team at Wargaming announces that its MMO World of Tanks has been hit by a security-related incident in which unknown assailants might have breached a number of accounts, obtaining access to e-mail addresses of players and hashed passwords associated with them.

The company says that all financial information has not been compromised, but still urges players to change their passwords in order to make sure they are safe.

Wargaming is also offering all those who secure their account 300 bonus in-game gold to use in World Of Tanks.

It's unclear whether the company has plans to add any new security measures to make sure that the incident does not happen again.

World of Tanks is a free-to-play title, but gamers can use real-world cash in order to get access to new cosmetic and gameplay options.
