The development team MachineGames and publisher Bethesda are announcing that Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is now launched on a range of digital distribution services for the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and the PC.

The two companies are also introducing an official gameplay launch trailer for the title, which is designed to offer details about the story that the prequel will tell and to show some of the action gamers will take part in.

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood once again features B.J. Blazkowicz, in 1946, as he tries to get the coordinates of the base for General Deathhead from the old Castle Wolfenstein, where new enemies are ready to slow his progress.

The second part of the game sees the hero go to the city of Wulfburg, where he needs to battle an obsessed archaeologist and some undead Nazi enemies.

The development team says that there are eight full chapters for fans to explore as they learn more about the world as it evolved towards the state seen in The New Order.

MachineGames and Bethesda have not said whether they are preparing another piece of standalone content for the rebooted Wolfenstein or if they are planning to work on a full sequel for the shooter.
