Developer MachineGames and publisher Bethesda Softworks surprised many people when Wolfenstein: The New Order turned out to be actually good.

Wolfenstein itself is a franchise with a lot of history, with Wolfenstein 3D putting the first-person shooter genre on the map, back in 1992.

In May 2014, MachineGames enabled us to once more step into the shoes of famed protagonist B. J. Blazkowicz and take on the evil Nazi machine in Wolfenstein: The New Order.

Now, the standalone expansion pack will offer us a prequel story, set before the events of the 2014 hit, following Blazkowics and his efforts to uncover the location of a remote Nazi compound, where a dark and ancient power threatens all existence, with two interconnected campaigns to complete.

The expansion adds several new weapons to the game, and offers the same exciting moment-to-moment action of the original, including stealth takedowns, weapon upgrades, and dual wielding machine guns, however ineffective that might be.

Bethesda has decided to unveil a special 45-minute gameplay segment from the upcoming title, showcasing some of the new environments, enemies and weapons that we'll see in action when The Old Blood is launched.

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is scheduled for digital release tomorrow, on May 5, headed to the Windows PC and the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 home consoles. If you want to get it in physical form, you will have to wait until May 14.
