The team at Nintendo in charge of the Wii U announces that it is delivering a new update for its home console, labeled 5.1.1, which is available to all users as soon as they turn their device on for the first time and will only take a short time to download.

On the official support site, the company only talks about improvements to both system stability and usability but does not offer more details about any sort of new features or changes to existing mechanics.

Nintendo has a long history of hiding the actual changelogs for its system updates from users.

The changes made might be linked to the upcoming launch of the Hyrule Warriors title, which is an important one for the Wii U.

The company adds, “After the Wii U system is updated, any existing or future unauthorized technical modification of the hardware or software of your Wii U system, or the use of an unauthorized device in connection with your system, may render the system permanently unplayable. Content deriving from the unauthorized modification of the hardware or software of your Wii U system may be removed.”

Nintendo has failed to sell as many Wii U home consoles as it was expecting but has high hopes that the coming Super Smash Bros will deliver a big boost to the platform.
