Maria Aliprando, who is the lead creature combat designer working on The Elder Scrolls Online, has confirmed that creatures like werewolves, daedra and vampires will be at the core of the upcoming MMO, with players asked to develop specific tactics and routines in order to defeat them.

ZeniMax Online says that the relative strengths of the various creatures will be the same as in the lore of the Elder Scrolls series and that gamers, regardless of their level, will have to be careful when tackling threats like giants or massed groups of lesser creatures.

The Elder Scrolls Online will use an active combat system, allowing gamers to time their attacks and blocks while also managing powers and combining them as in a traditional MMO.

The game takes place 1,000 years before the core single-player experiences in the series and offers gamers a choice of three factions.

The Elder Scrolls Online will be launched on the PC during 2013 under a yet unrevealed business model.
