Watch Dogs might have been confirmed as coming to the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, the PC and current gen consoles on May 27 but the title is still indefinitely delayed for the Wii U device from Nintendo.

Dominic Guay, a senior producer working on the game, says that the version is on hold at the moment and that development duties are being handled by Ubisoft Romania.

Apparently the team is currently exploring the GamePad controller of the Wii U in order to see how it can be used to enhance the unique Watch Dogs experience.

The developer tells Polygon that, “We don’t have a specific ship date for it yet so it’s considered within the year. So we’re going to look at that and we’re going to let people know as soon as we figure out an exact date for it.”

New game content will not be added to the Wii U version of Watch Dogs but that the company wants to make sure the experience matches that on other platforms.

Guay also says that the Bucharest studio of Ubisoft has managed to get the game running on the Nintendo home console on its own because it has solid engineers that are able to unlock the potential of the device.
