Crytek's free-to-play first-person shooter Warface has just officially launched on the Xbox 360 console, after a couple of months of beta testing on the platform.

The launch was of course accompanied by a nice gameplay trailer that the developers put together to celebrate the shooter's transition from open beta status into full-fledged release, showing off some of the new gameplay features introduced to the Xbox 360 and PC game.

Warface debuted its closed beta on the Xbox 360 in February and then transitioned into open beta late in March. Although the shooter is a free-to-play game, only Xbox Live Gold subscribers are allowed access to it.

The game runs on CryEngine 3, using the very same technology that also powers Ryse and Crysis 3, and Crytek's plans for the future include adding new class-based competitive multiplayer and co-op modes, as well as new gear and other types of content.

Globally, the title has been a massive success, attracting over 25 million registered players since its debut in April 2012 in Russia and October 2013 worldwide, on Windows PC.

"Our goal with Warface has always been to show that free-to-play games can be top quality, blockbuster experiences that match the industry's highest standards," Crytek publishing GM Dirk Metzger said after the game's release on PC.
