The guys behind the Warcraft: Armies of Azeroth mod for Starcraft 2 have released a brand new gameplay video, showcasing all the progress made so far.

The video focuses on highlighting the Human faction, showing off the pimped-out character models and all the interactions from Warcraft 3, faithfully recreated on the Starcraft 2 engine.

Developer Blizzard Entertainment itself released all the old Warcraft 3 assets to the Starcraft 2 map editor, but this mod uses custom-built high-quality models for pretty much everything.

In any case, the original sounds, music and icons should come in handy, and having free access to them should help the project gain an aura of authenticity.

It's still going to be a while until we get our hands on a playable version of the mod though, so for the time being, all we can do is look at the gameplay video below.

Warcraft 3 was a great real-time strategy game released at the beginning of the 21st century, based on the extensive lore of the Warcraft universe, pitting the Humans, Night Elves, Orcs and Undead against each other in an epic conflict.

While many nostalgic gamers are no doubt pining for a fresh entry in the franchise, there has not been any official activity on that front for more than a decade.
