Paradox Interactive and Fat Shark have finally launched War of the Vikings on Steam, after an extended testing period spent in Early Access.

The game is a multiplayer close-quarters combat simulator that is very similar to the company's previous game, War of the Roses, only much better due to the insane axe to beard ratio. Perfect for people who are sick and tired of all the shooters and just want to chuck a javelin at a Saxon in order to show who's boss in Britannia.

Now you can enjoy chopping off heads with the hairy mastodons in their final version, and the finished game also added a lot of new features to the game.

Among the additions, the most notable is the presence of five new maps for you to chase and slaughter people on, including Stronghold, allowing you to fight in a besieged viking village, as well as Ice Floe, where you go carving up Saxons on a desolate water and icebergs map.

The standard edition of the game goes for $25 / €24, and the game is also available in a premium edition, dubbed the Valhalla Edition, costing $175 / €168 and offering all future content for free, as well as an art book, a strategy guide, the full official soundtrack and a digital novel.
