Dan Connors, the chief executive officer of Telltale Games, believes that the success of The Walking Dead shows that the core game mechanics can be used with almost any kind of intellectual property as long as the overall quality of the experience is high.
He tells IGN that, “Now it’s a really good template. All that work paid off. When executed well, with the right franchise, with the right gameplay mechanics, with a great story, with great writing, this is what it can be. It’s really powerful and really compelling.”
The Walking Dead is based on the comic book of the same name but follows another protagonist and features a number of cameos from the core universe.
A second season of The Walking Dead episodic series is expected to launch later during 2013.
