Valve has once again expressed a desire to eliminate the Greenlight service from the Steam digital distribution solution in the near future, although it has not yet laid out clear plans to do so.

Dave Oshry, who is the chief financial officer of Hot Blooded Games, said via Twitter during the Steam Dev Days event that, “Our goal is to make Greenlight go away. Not because it’s not useful, but because we’re evolving,”

The statement is attributed to Valve leader Gabe Newell, who has been previously quoted as saying that Greenlight is just a stopgap solution.

The company is interested in making sure that developers can easily and quickly create their own storefronts in order to deliver their products to players, with limited involvement from Valve itself.

Valve has recently revealed that its digital distribution service has passed the 75 million user mark after the big holiday sales it organized.
