The development team at EA Sports in charge of the Ultimate Team mode for the FIFA football series announces that the service is set for an 11-hour-long maintenance period in order to prepare for the launch of this year’s installment of the series.

The official Twitter message states, “UPDATE: #FUT Maintenance in the morning to prepare for #FIFA14. 1am-12pm PT (9am-8pm UK). Expected downtime: 11hrs.”

It’s unclear why EA Sports is performing maintenance so soon, considering that FIFA 14 is set to launch near the end of September.

The new Ultimate Team mode is designed to give gamers even more options when it comes to team building, with more variety of the cards that they can acquire.

FIFA 14 also has versions for the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, powered by new Ignite tech.
