Ubisoft isn't ruling out the possibility of seeing a full-fledged Assassin's Creed game based on China's history, after launching the already confirmed Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China side-scrolling adventure.

The Assassin's Creed series made by Ubisoft has explored a wide array of historical settings over the years, as part of its full-fledged releases but also as part of the smaller, downloadable experiences that appeared on other platforms besides consoles or PC, such as mobile phones and more.

After releasing two major games last month, in the form of Assassin's Creed Unity and Rogue, the studio is focusing on a smaller title called Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China, which is a side-scrolling adventure set in the Asian country.

However, in terms of full-fledged releases, the company hasn't been that interested in tackling Asian stories.

While talking to the Chinese press, via Kotaku, Ubisoft's Stephanie Perotti states that there is, however, some interest in Asian history for both China and Japan, and it's mostly a matter of combing through the ancient events to find interesting things.

"I don't think that we said we weren't interested in Chinese history. I think that we notice a lot of stories—we want to have creativity to create the right story [within the right context]," Perotti says. "If we have Assassin's Creed creators that want to spend time [understanding the history of the setting], we can understand Chinese history or Japanese history and make these games about history."

Depending on how great the reception will be for Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China, it's possible that Ubisoft will cater more to its Asian fans.
