Trion Worlds announced that that the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 launch of the free-to-play version of its massively multiplayer role-playing third-person shooter Defiance has been delayed.

In case you were itching to try out the free-to-play version of Defiance on your console, you're going to have to wait a little while longer, as the company stated that the development team decided to postpone the launch of the title, previously scheduled to come out on July 15, due to technical reasons.

"As you've seen or possibly experienced this week, we've been having stability issues with our console platforms. The team is working on a number of game additions as part of its crossover with Season 2 of the Defiance TV show and the latest build has negatively impacted game stability. Our programmers are working on addressing these issues," the company explained in the official announcement.

For the time being, the company does not have a prospective remedy date for the issues, and so has not provided a new ETA for the transition to free-to-play on either console.

"Please know that this is a priority fix for us, as we are eager to welcome fans on all platforms to the new Defiance experience. We will provide updates on our progress toward the Free-to-Play launch on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as they are available. Thanks for your understanding and patience as we work to ensure a stable and successful launch on console," Trion concluded.
