Transformers games haven’t exactly been the pinnacle of quality for interactive experiences, as for every decent release, like Transformers: War for Cybertron, we were treated with some mediocre tie-in for the Hollywood Transformers movies, like the recent Dark of the Moon.

Now, it seems that Activision and High Moon Studios want to make amends with fans and have presented the first trailer for Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, the sequel to 2009’s War for Cybertron, during the 2011 Spike TV Video Game Awards.

While that may not excite many, this emotional video is a definite must watch for any Transformers fan, managing to trump, without saying any word or depicting any human, all the recent Transformers games.

What’s more, it also shows off a new kind of gameplay mechanic, with even larger robots now being formed by multiple smaller ones.

Check out the trailer above and get ready for Transformers: Fall of Cybertron in fall of 2012.
