The development team at The Creative Assembly and publisher SEGA are delivering a new Unit Spotlight video for Total War: Rome II, which focuses on the various new recruitment options introduced in the free downloadable content that accompanied patch 14 and the paid Daughters of Mars DLC.

There’s a lot of historical information offered by the team, both about the historical inspiration for the new units and about the way they can be used in order to dominate the battlefield.

Daughters of Mars, as the name implies, allows players to get access to some powerful female warriors, including gladiators and very capable horse archers, who tend to be better from a defensive standpoint than their male counterparts.

The unit line-up for the new patch for Total War: Rome II also allows gamers to recruit a new set of Suebi troops, which should make the faction more viable.

The Creative Assembly also says that it has solved some problems with the Artificial Intelligence linked to siege, and that the entire campaign experience should now be more challenging.

The developers are also promising that a big announcement about the game will be made this week, which might include the reveal of a new campaign-based downloadable content for Total War: Rome II.
