Developer The Creative Assembly announces that its upcoming Total War: Rome II strategy game has broken the record of pre-orders associated with the franchise, posting numbers that are six times higher than those of Shogun II.

Sam Sadeghi, a product manager working at the studio, tells MCV that, “Our expectations for Total War: Rome 2 are extremely high. It is already our fastest pre-ordered Total War game of all time.”

The high pre-order numbers might be linked to the fact that only those who pre-order Rome II will get access to a content pack that allows them to play as three unique Greek factions, including the Spartans.

The marketing campaign for the new Total War will also be a serious effort, which will see the game featured in ads on Discover History and Quest.

The strategy game will be out on the PC on September 3.
