Book publisher MacMillan and SEGA announce that they are working together on a novel based on Total War: Rome 2, called Destroy Carthage, which will be launched alongside the new strategy title from The Creative Assembly in September.

This is the first book in a four-novel franchise and will tell the story of Roman centurion Fabius Petronius Secundus, who takes part in some of the biggest battles of the fledgling Republic.

David Gibbins, the author of the book, is both a fiction writer and a history lecturer.

Destroy Carthage will take gamers up to the siege of the city, which is also one of the battles featured on Rome 2.

Gibbins states, "The story of Rome’s struggle with Carthage is truly a story of total war, of a conflict spread over more than a century, in which annihilation of one side was the only possible outcome."
