The development team at The Creative Assembly is not ready to offer direct access to Total War: Arena to a wider number of players, but a new trailer for the strategy experience delivers the first in-game footage.

On Saturday, May 23, gamers will be able to log into the Twitch streaming service in order to see the first full match for the game as it takes place at an ESL event in Cologne, starting at 17 PM Central European Time.

The title uses a variation of the engine that powered Rome II.

Total War: Arena is a video game experience that aims to offer fans of the series a chance to engage in massive multiplayer engagements in which each has control over three units of warriors, with a commander that made a mark on history leading them all.

The title is free-to-play and team-based, with gamers able to level up their troops and improve their abilities after the experience is gained during combat, and teamwork will be crucial for those who seek victory.

Total War: Arena is at the moment in a closed-alpha stage, and access to a wider number of players will be opened after The Creative Assembly makes a number of tweaks to the core ideas.
