Scot Amos, the executive producer working on the new Tomb Raider game, says that the title was profitable at the end of 2013 despite lower than expected initial sales that worried publisher Square Enix.

He tells Eurogamer that the game is in the black and that its future is secure and will be even brighter after the launch of the new Definitive Edition for the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

Amos explains that, "looking forward, clearly Square and Crystal are invested in the franchise. So, despite how it was said, what was said – we had a lot of people scratching their heads and asking about it – we’re very happy to say that from a partnership internally, we’re committed to it totally."

The new Tomb Raider game focuses more on the character of Lara Croft and is designed to generate more emotion on the player's part.
