Tomb Raider: Underworld, the most recent Crystal Dynamics developed video game in the long-running series, is now available as a free-to-play experience on Core Online, the cloud gaming portal created by publisher Square Enix.

Before it was launched, the development team claimed that Underworld would reinvigorate the series and show Lara Croft in a new light, but the game failed both commercially and critically.

Since then, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have announced that they are working on a full reboot of Tomb Raider that will be launched this year.

Underworld is still worth a playthrough, especially for fans of the character.

The new Tomb Raider will see Lara Croft starting out as an adventurer, threatened by both man and environment before she finds the inner strength she needs to deal with the challenges that life throws at her.
