Tomb Raider, the new action adventure game from Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix, now has over 1 million players, at least according to the Global Brand Manager of the franchise, Karl Stewart.

Tomb Raider was released at the beginning of the week and quickly impressed lots of people by delivering a proper reboot of the long-running franchise.

While the game is expected to sell a lot of units, Tomb Raider Global Brand Manager Karl Stewart mentioned on Twitter that over 1 million players started the game in less than 48 hours.

Stewart didn't say just how the players were counted, but you can bet that the studio uses some of the game's online systems to keep track of how many people are enjoying Lara Croft's new adventures.

The manager also mentioned that new copies of the game are being sent to retail stores so there won't be any long-term shortages that affect the availability of Tomb Raider.

With this big success, you can bet that both Crystal and Square Enix are eager to continue the series.
