The Thwacke collective of scientists who are currently helping inXile with the development of Wasteland 2 single out Deus Ex: Human Revolution as one of the video games that portrayed science and the near future in a positive way.

Speaking to Gamasutra, Sebastian Alvarado says, “Deus Ex did a great job of understanding what the future might look like, for example, because they took the time and trouble to study the facts and the published ideas on the subject.”

The Ph.D. candidate says that at the other end of the spectrum he would place Assassin’s Creed, which devoted resources to the recreation of Venice, but failed to accurately portray the way DNA worked.

Thwacke is helping the Wasteland 2 team to create an image of the future that reflects the current understanding of our planet and environment.
