Opponents and allies will be quite competent

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the next game from developer CD Projekt Red, has a competent AI system that not only results in smart enemies but also useful companions that can help protagonist Geralt of Rivia in many situations.

The Witcher 3 is set to debut at the end of spring and CD Projekt Red has emphasized time and time again the ground-breaking work it's doing with the new RPG.

Now, as part of a special batch of fresh details shared on the official forums, a few new things have been confirmed about the game's AI system.

Enemies are able to spread out on the battlefield in order to ensure that Geralt won't be able to escape, but killing the group's leader will result in disarray amongst the foes, making things easier for players. Opponents will also be able to bait out the actions or the skills of the player, and can easily avoid traps.

Companions that help Geralt during certain missions are also quite useful, as they can wait out enemy attacks, cause distractions, or even strike from behind if the opponents are all focusing on Geralt during a fight.

You can expect to hear much more about the combat and AI in The Witcher 3 in the following months, as we get closer to the game's launch in May on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
