Ru Weerasuriya, the creative director working at Ready at Dawn, says that his team is trying to make sure that melee and shooter mechanics in The Order: 1886 are balanced and original.

He tells Edge that, “We wanted to find new ways of introducing it that would keep you feeling you were in a shooter that’s evolved into something else, rather than been segmented.”

Ready at Dawn says that all main mechanics occupy the gamer’s attention in short bursts, making sure that there’s a lot of variety every moment.

The Order: 1886 takes place in a London that mixes real elements and fantasy and will see the player become part of an ancient order of Arthurian knights who battle the forces of darkness that are made up of half man, half monster creatures.

The game is expected to arrive on the PlayStation 4 in 2014.
