Fans of puzzles, riddles and investigation rejoice, there's a new Sherlock Holmes adventure video game coming our way in 2016.

Developer Frogwares has announced a publishing contract with Bigben Interactive, related to the eighth installment in the long-running series of titles that allow us to play detective.

The Sherlock Holmes series has evolved a lot since its early, PC-only roots, with the last three titles also landing on consoles, and the latest, Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments, delivering a thrilling and satisfying experience.

With over five million games sold since the launch of the license, and with a solid fanbase eagerly awaiting the next installment, the teams aim to deliver an even more ambitious experience than the last one.

"We are delighted to team up on the development of a new Sherlock Holmes game with Bigben. We look forward to seeing this partnership flourish over the coming months, taking advantage of the energy they are ready to bring to the table. In our turn, we are committed to create an engaging content that will satisfy any gamer willing to challenge their inner Sherlock Holmes," Frogwares Chief Executive Officer Wael Amr stated.

For the time being, there is no information regarding the upcoming adventure game, aside from the 2016 release window.
