Nintendo has confirmed through a special video that it's not only working on a brand new game in the long-running The Legend of Zelda series for the Wii U home console, but also that, in the meantime, it's going to re-release the classic Wind Waker for the new platform, in the form of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD.

The Legend of Zelda is one of Nintendo's most popular franchises, second only to Mario, so it makes sense that the company is trying to release an iteration onto the Wii U as soon as possible.

In order to show off the progress of his team, Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma has talked in a new video about the projects he supervises.

In terms of the all-new game, Aonuma says that he plans to "rethink the conventions of Zelda" by changing things like the completion of dungeons in a linear order by yourself.

What's more, seeing as how it's going to take some time before the new game can be showed off to fans, Aonuma confirms that Nintendo is going to re-release the iconic Wind Waker in high definition for the Wii U.
