The remastered edition of the game will blend cut scenes with gameplay at 60fps

Naughty Dog has confirmed that playing The Last of Us on PS4 at a 60fps framerate is a transformative experience and the new cut scenes provide a consistence between them and the actual gameplay.

The Last of Us looked quite good on the PS3 when it appeared last year but, in order to achieve this, developer Naughty Dog made sacrifices, like a 30fps framerate or lower-quality character models during gameplay.

Now, with the upcoming remastered edition being set to debut on PS4 in the near future, Naughty Dog has revealed that experiencing the game at a 60fps framerate is a completely new feeling.

According to Lead Game Designer Kurt Margenau, who shared his thoughts on Twitter, it's going to make it hard for fans to go back to the 30fps PS3 edition of The Last of Us.

"Played some #TLOU at 60 fps tonight for the first time (60fps cut scenes and all). Transformative. I’m a believer. Don’t think I can go back," he said.

Margenau has also denied that the 60fps cut scenes will ruin the cinematic feel of the experience, producing the so-called soap opera effect, but he said that it just makes the sequences feel like regular gameplay moments.

The Last of Us Remastered for PS4 launches on July 29.
